ReDorm to Hire Four Student Fellows Through the California Youth Leadership Corps and WLAC Climate Center

ReDorm, the 501(c)(3) nonprofit behind the software campuses use to run dorm reuse programs, will hire four student fellows this year through the workforce development program of the California Youth Leadership Corps. Interviews were held Wednesday, August 26, at the California Center for Climate Change Education at West Los Angeles College, where ReDorm serves as a host site for the students placed through the program.
ReDorm has hosted fellows through the program since 2024. The incoming group is its third academic-year cohort and, counting a summer session, its fourth overall. The first ReDorm will hire since becoming a nonprofit.
Training begins September 13. The four fellows will work alongside ReDorm's team across three areas:
- Campus outreach and consulting
- Student partnerships and outreach
- Climate storytelling
The partnership has already produced a full-circle hire. Ali Zarenezhad joined ReDorm as a student fellow through the program and now works part-time for the organization as an Account Executive, helping new campuses launch reuse programs of their own.
“As we move towards a more sustainable economy, this partnership shows how true the phrase ‘every career is a climate career’ is. Solutions require people and that means jobs. We are delighted to continue our incredible partnership with the WLAC Climate Center and the CYLC, which demonstrates that fighting for a more sustainable future necessarily means investing in fulfilling, well-paying jobs.”
The fellows join at a moment when ReDorm is expanding to support more trailblazing campus programs including UC San Diego, which is using ReDorm to pilot its first-ever move-out to move-in dorm reuse program, and UCLA, which used ReDorm to measure and report the climate impact of its move-out donation program last spring.
The California Youth Leadership Corps is a statewide initiative of the Community Learning Partnership that prepares community college students to become the next generation of community organizers, advocates, and nonprofit leaders. Its Environmental Justice & Sustainability pathway places fellows in paid, work-based learning roles with nonprofit and social justice organizations.
